Marina Coast Water District ProjectsProject Name: D E Booster Station

Customer Benefit: provides a reliable water supply with consistent pressure and also allows for increased water flows in the event of an emergency

Location: across from Bayonet Golf Course in the Ord Community

Starting Date: March 2007

Completion Date: March 2008

Project Cost: $1.5 million

Summary: The new station replaces the 50-year-old elevated reservoir that was constructed by the Army. The series of booster pumps at the new station is regulated by a supervisor control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that monitors water distribution and sends commands based on customer demands. The SCADA operator is able to monitor the entire system and respond immediately if necessary. The station has an emergency power source to insure continuous operation even during extended outages. The project was completed on time and within budget.
